Ralph Nader is an American attorney, author, lecturer, and political activist.
While we've been working to clean up outdoor air pollution in the past few years, indoor pollution is rarely addressed. It is a growing problem as we make homes and offices more energy efficient. Greenfield takes us through the buildings we inhabit daily; she points out sources of pollution and the symptoms they may cause; and she suggests ways to alleviate the problems. Some of her solutions (e.g., changing brands of cleaning products) are practical; others (increasing ventilation in sealed office buildings) more difficult. A "pollution compendium" lists pollutants and gives concentration figures and adverse health effects. This is a good buy. Rebecca Wondriska, Trinity Coll. Lib., Hartford, Ct.
