A novel of WWII with study guide and play useful for self-help recovery for victims of violence. The novel is written in easy-to read style with fast-paced drama to appeal to young men and reluctant readers. The novel engrosses young men who otherwise might avoid history lectures and makes the war personal through characterization and vivid action scenes. History comes alive and is still as relevant today as when their grandfathers fought in WWII or Vietnam. The play allows readers to become part of the story through role play and the interactive study guide gives readers a chance to voice their reactions to subjects in the book and male issues in general. As a Whole Language study it gives teachers and counselors a unique and valuable tool.
