Reviews

This dictionary of graphic arts terms covers all the bases in a clear and concise way, providing excellent illustrations designed to guide even a lay reader through what are sometimes foreign and difficult concepts. Terms from photography, book design, the various printing processes, newspaper production, and computer technology are all included. In fact, any term that might come up in discussions involving jobs, from the smallest newsletter to a major printing production, can be found here. Multiple meanings are clearly indicated, as are cross references. An added bonus is the inclusion of Spanish equivalents, with the English definitions and a separate Spanish index at the end. A great aid, this book should go a long way toward alleviating the embarrassment and confusion that can result from dealing with a highly specialized and somewhat eccentric jargon. Recommended as a quick reference source, especially for libraries emphasizing graphic arts.
