About the story: One summer day, Max Witcomb, age 10, and his sister Bridgette, age 8, discovered in one of their "inventor" father's packages, an announcement of a spectacular upcoming dog show. All dogs, regardless of bred, were invited to compete in the "Most Interesting and Imaginative Trick Contest." The grand prize was a weekend for the whole family at an exciting new Amusement Park. The children were ecstatic Mickey, their lovable mongrel pet dog, could win the grand prize for them, they thought. Despite Mickey's stubbornness in humorous episodes to learn new tricks, the children's persistence and patience were rewarded in the end when Mickey used his natural instincts to steal the show.
