Synopsis

Connersville's history dates back to the early years of the Nineteenth Century when John Conner and Michael Peletier built a fur trading post in the vicinity. A town was platted about 1813, and gradually a community began to develop. Growth was slow; the canal and the railroad invited business. Stores began to appear, and brick and frame houses gradually replaced log structure. By the end of the Civil War, Connersville was being recorded with increasing frequency by the lens of the camera. The old saying, "a picture is worth a thousand words" certainly applies here. Photographs provide a detailed and intimate look that words can never completely convey These are what our grandparents saw-and their grandparents saw. This book reflects the way it was.
