About the Author:

Wilmer (Wil) Cooper, a lifelong member of the Religious Society of Friends, grew up among Conservative Wilburite Friends in eastern Ohio. A graduate of Wilmington College, with graduate degrees from Haverford College, Yale Divinity School, and Vanderbilt University, Wil Cooper began his public career with the Friends Committee on National Legislation in Washington, D.C. He joined the Earlham College faculty in 1959 and was the founding dean of Earlham School of Religion from 1960-78, from which he retired in 1985. He is the author of The ESR Story: A Quaker Dream come True, A Living Faith: An Historical Study of Quaker Beliefs, and The Quaker Testimony of Integrity in the Religion Society of Friends. Wil and Emily Cooper are members of West Richmond (Indiana) Friends Meeting. They live at Friends Fellowship Community in Richmond and retreat to Palm Harbor, Florida for the winters.
