9780944435342: Criminal Intent

Criminal Intent traces the exploits of a cunning, criminal mind. Stewart Lawrence's extraordinary career begins at Lakewood Downs, a harness racing track, where he conspires with several drivers to fix races. Dazzled by initial success, Lawrence's winnings prompt even greater risks. But Lawrence's greatest gamble hinges on achieving his most cherished goal, the affections of Lisa Armstrong, who initially, remains ignorant of her paramour's dangerous dual existence, and who herself harbors deep secrets that will soon involve Lawrence. A man compelled to live on the edge, he gambles for the highest stakes, both at the racetrack and for the love of his dreams. Hounded by goons who want to collect on past gambling debts, and frustrated by the discovery of his race fixes, he turns to bank robbery. A minor slipup during a routine sales call leads to Lawrence's ultimate arrest. In prison, still filled with lust and greed, he formulates schemes and assembles members of what will become the most professional gang of bank robbers in the annals of criminal justice.
