About the Author:

A native of Wisconsin, Ann Carol (Schumacher) Ulrich Miller grew up in Monona, an eastern suburb of Madison. She graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1970, and by then had completed the rough drafts of the first two Annette Vetter novels. She attended the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater, majoring in pre-veterinary.

In 1972, she moved to East Lansing, Michigan, where she changed majors and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Writing at Michigan State.

In 1977, she, her husband and toddler son moved to Aspen, Colorado. She has worked for various newspapers in the country and even started a couple in Colorado. Her international monthly newsletter on UFOs and the paranormal, The Star Beacon, has been in print since 1987, and currently she works for the environmental news magazine, High Country News, in Paonia, Colorado.

She loves nature and living in the country, where she raises poultry. Her interests include music, art and publishing. She resides in the mountains of western Colorado with her second husband, Ethan Miller, and cherishes her three grown sons.
