This is a travel guide without any practical information on such basic topics as facilities and transportation: instead it surveys the history and culture of Asia, here defined as stretching from India to Japan. There are snippets on political and religious movements, recommendations on where to see the best ruins and art works, and notes on art and architecture. The text sweeps back and forth like a splatter painter leaving blobs and drips at random. Its best feature is its comparative timetables showing events both within and without Asia. But the geographical and historical scope is so enormous that only the most basic highlighting can be achieved. Because any good guidebook to a single country covers these topics at least as well, this is a secondary source for most libraries.
