About the Author

The author of three novels and several short stories and magazine articles, Charles Daudert presently lives in Mandevelle, LA, home base for sailing the Carribean, and Kalamazoo, MI, where he returns each summer for more serious work. He is a graduate of Western Michigan University, Wayne State law School, and formerly an attorney in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

A young man sat cross-legged on the dirt floor of a smoke-filled room. His heart pounded and his hands trembled. Across a woven mat, three bearded and turbaned old men sucked on the octopus-like tentacles of a water pipe. At last, the bearded man in the middle nodded to the young man. With a quavering voice which grew stronger as he spoke, the young man began: "It is arranged. A plastique charge will seal the door. Shrapnel from a second explosion will rip through the dancers."
