Synopsis

The first Land Rover was presented at the Amsterdam motor show in April 1948. Land Rovers proliferated, with open and closed bodies, and bewildering permutations of engines and drives for military and civilian use. Prototypes were produced for special tasks and special forces, it was stretched for extra load carrying and miniaturised for loading in aircraft The common heritage of Range Rover, Discovery, Freelander and Range Rover Sport was a cross-country agility that became an industry benchmark.
