The diary covers the period 9th May to 20th August 1944, from the day Campbell Muirhead arrived at RAF Wickenby, 1 Group Bomber Command, to the day he left. Written ‘as it happened’ Diary of a Bomb Aimer gives a unique insight into Bomber Command operations over Germany and occupied Europe. In addition, the diary provides some wonderful detail of the day to day activities and concerns of a ‘typical’ Lancaster crew member, and life on a war-time Bomber Command airfield.
