Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. The set-up: At last, the true story of Sherlock Holmes' adventures during the three years of the Great Hiatus can be told. It was commissioned by Mycroft Holmes on behalf of the Foreign Office, and written by Dr John Watson, based in part on the journals of Holmes' companion, the French detective Francois le Villard (mentioned in "The Sign of Four"). As Sherlock Holmes pastiches go, this is an interesting one. It is also fairly uncommon - and monstrous! A large, heavy book of over 600 pages. Well produced by Camden House Publishing (Camden House being the name of the empty house in "The Adventure of the Empty House"), it is a handsome book. The trouble is that the effort of writing and publishing it seems to have been too much for author and publisher (Sheil seems to have created Camden House Publishing in 1999 to publish his book). The publisher lies fallow and the planned second volume, "The Egypt Question" has never made it into print. Shame. This is a fine copy in fine dust jacket. A printout of an internet review is laid in. Extra shipping fee possible. MC. Seller Inventory # 001980

As many surmised Holmes undertook his Eastern travels on behalf of the British Government, accompanied by the French agent Francois le Villard, encountering more excitement and danger than he would permit Dr Watson to record. The events in India, Tibet and Siam have their repercussions in England, when Holmes returns to Baker Street he must deal with Colonel Moran, Colonel Moriarty and other less expected foes. An engrossing tale of high adventure. A huge heavy book, extra postage may be required. Seller Inventory # 006542
