Thirteen papers which together form a multidisciplinary investigation of one of England's finest collegiate and parish churches. Studies include a discussion of the archaeological evidence for the earliest Anglo-Saxon Minster, which was replaced in the 11th century by a Romanesque building, now only known from documentary sources. The remaining essays examine the Minster's development during the medieval, post-Reformation and modern periods with particular attention paid to the Gothic sculpture, the medieval and post-Reformation monuments, the precinct and the Minster's music.
