Synopsis
The Gateway to Arabic Handwriting Book has been written as part of the "Gateway to Arabic" series with a view to giving students the opportunity to learn, practise and acquire proficiency in a fluent style of Arabic handwriting. It is recommended that students should already have completed at least Book One of the Gateway series and be familiar with the Arabic alphabet before embarking upon this book. Although a number of handwriting styles are used in the Middle East, the style taught in this book, namely ruq'ah, is the most widespread and the easiest to learn. Compared to the printed style of Arabic, which is termed naskh, ruq'ah offers the advantage of being much quicker to write. The book has been organised so that identical naskh and ruq'ah texts appear on facing pages for ease of comparison and contrast. تم كتابة كتاب المدخل للخط العربي كجزء من سلسلة المدخل الى العربية لإعطاء الطلاب الفرصة لتعلم وممارسة واكتساب المهارة بأسلوب فصيح للخطوط العربية. ويفضل ان يكون الطالب قد اتم الكتاب الأول من سلسلة المدخل وان يتعرف على الاحرف الأبجدية العربية قبل الشروع في الكتاب. على الرغم من ان عدد كبير من أنماط الكتابة مستخدمة في الشرق الأوسط لا ان في هذا الكتاب تم استخدام نمط الرقعة وهو اكثر نمط انتشارا و الاسهل للتعلم. بالمقارنة مع نمط الطباعة بالعربية و المسمى النسخ, يقدم خط الرقعة افضلية بانه اسرع للكتابة.
تم تنظيم الكتاب بحيث تكون النصوص بخط الرقعة و النسخ متقابلين لتسهيل المقارنة و المغايرة. يضع القسم الأول الاحرف الابجدية للغة العربية بكل اشكالها: اول الكلمة, وسطها, اخرها ومنفصلة. و تمت الإشارة الى الاتجاه الدقيق و تسلسل حركة القلم في كتابة كل حرف من خلال استخدام اسهم مرقمة. بعد الانتهاء من مقدمة الكتاب بالأحرف بكل اشكاله يوفر الكتاب للطالب الفرصة ليمارس نسخ كلمات و عبارات كاملة اغلبها معروفة للطالب المسلم. تم إعطاء فرصة أخرى لتعزيز مهارة الخط من خلال نسخ ايات مختارة من القران الكريم. وتتضمن الصفحة الموجودة عليها الايات ترجمة لها.

About the Author
Dr. Imran Hamza Alawiyeis the author of numerous books specializing in teaching Arabic to non-Arabic speakers, including the highly popular 'Gateway to Arabic' series. He graduated in Arabic from the University of Madinah in Saudi Arabia and went on to obtain his PhD in Arabic from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) within the University of London. He has a wealth of experience in teaching Arabic at various levels to many different age groups.
