About the Author

Tamsin Stone has owned a rabbit or two or four since she was a child but the main inspiration for this book is her current house rabbit, Scamp. Scamp is a four year-old European wild rabbit she hand reared from a week old and model for many of the illustrations inside.

She is active in the online rabbit community, running the most popular UK advice forum for rabbit owners. An avid rescue supporter, she also set up the rabbit adoption network Rabbit Rehome. Remember, next time you are thinking about getting a bunny - try a rescue!

From the Back Cover

Have you ever wondered what your rabbit is thinking? Or why he rubs his chin on the furniture and thumps his hind feet? Why does your rabbit make sudden running jumps? And what is going on when he flops dramatically on his side? How do you stop him digging your carpet? Why does he turn nasty when you try to introduce a new friend? How do you tell if your rabbit is bored?

These questions and many more can be answered by understanding the motivations behind your rabbit's habits. Tamsin Stone draws on many years of experience working with rabbits to enlighten us about their fascinating and often puzzling behaviour. Stone breaks down common rabbit behaviours such as digging, eating, aggression, social interaction, and play and puts them in context to explain how rabbits' evolution as prey animals has shaped their instincts. Modern domestic rabbits still share many of the same behaviours of their wild cousins, and failing to accommodate them is the reason behind many conflicts between rabbits and their owners. Stone helps rabbit owners understand their pets' habits and how they can create an environment that gives their rabbit the opportunity to express natural behaviour patterns. In turn this will help you provide a healthy and happy life for your rabbit, and enjoy a peaceful and harmonious household.
