The author spent 6 years building a model of an LNER B1 locomotive ('Bongo") and wanted to paint it to a high standard. This turned out to be easier said than done. The complete process took 2 years of frustration, mistakes and wrong directions. Finally, the author won a gold medal at the 2004 Model Engineer Exhibition. It was this success that led him to write a practical 'cook book' for the benefit of others. With 130 color photos and 30 diagrams, this book takes the beginner through all the necessary stages and processes in painting a model engineering subject.
