About the Author:
Special Stories Publishing was founded in 2006 by children s author Kate Gaynor. Having spent a year writing the Special Stories Series, Kate founded the publishing house Special Stories Publishing in order to illustrate, design, print and market her own series. Through the company she also hopes to give parents, children and professionals a chance to tell their own Special Story by both signing and working in conjunction with fellow authors and healthcare professionals in the future. The core values of Special Stories Publishing are to produce and publish high quality, specialized children s books that deal with difficult topics in a sensitive and fully child centred way. The company aims to bring an end to children, parents and professionals using sub-standard and inappropriate material to address such sensitive and difficult situations. We hope by bringing these books to the mass market that we will assist in normalizing rather than ostracising these issues for young people in classrooms, families and crèches alike. All books published through Special Stories Publishing are reviewed and approved by healthcare professionals of the associated topics in question.
