Further black and white photographs in the text. The book is square and tight. No previous ownership inscriptions. The covers are clean and unfaded, the corners and spine ends sharp The pages and closed page edges are clean. No remainder marks. The book is as new. Biography of Gerda `Pytt' Geddes (1917-2006) who was sung lullabies by the Queen of Norway, trained as a dancer and a psychoanalyst, worked with the Norwegian Resistance, outwitted a Gestapo trap, survived a Chinese People's Liberation Army invasion, and was held hostage for two years in Shanghai. Then, in Hong Kong, she persuaded a Chinese tai chi master to do the unthinkable and teach a western woman. She went on to become the first European to bring tai chi to Britain where her teaching influenced the lives of thousands of people and had an impact on the development of contemporary dance.
