It all started in Claybottom Farmhouse on a stormy night, a night that would not end well...
When Tap the sheepdog is abandoned in the middle of a stormy night, her adventures are just beginning. She meets a few woodland friends who find that the storm has destroyed their homes and left them short of food – surviving in a strange, flooded landscape. The friends stick together, sharing good times and bad and all the funny and sad moments in between. Will their friendship survive? Will they find a new place to live? And will Tap ever find her way home?
The animals include an unlikely mix of friends that cross paths with the most unpleasant, vicious creatures that roam the woods and fields. Here’s a little information about the animals you’ll meet:
Tap the sheepdog, who faces a long, uncertain journey
Breeze – a young fox, who has seen more than her fair share of hardship
Scribbler, Chomper and Scamper – three beavering beavers
Stripe – an always-hungry badger
Patches – a problem-solving squirrel
Hoot – a wise and thoughtful owl, who cares more for his friends than he ever says
Scooch – an outrageously-adventurous otter
Dusty the mole and Kit, Bobby and Sprinter – three rabbits , full of surprises, full of mischief, full of bravery
Jed – Tap’s father, a loyal and hardworking sheepdog
Crisps – Tap’s brother, who, quite frankly, thinks his name is silly
Sly and Mona Claybottom – the mean and selfish farmers
Leader and the brutal foxes
A gang of feral cats and two scrawnity hawks, up to no good

Glossary
Puddles, the next story by Dr Littlemouse – and a promise!
Julie Kourdi is a writer who combines a love of literature with a sense of fun and adventure – along with a sometimes-handy interest in spotting and solving problems, such as how can a tiny rabbit outfox a fox?
In her first book, Braving the Storm, she draws on her experience teaching English skills and poetry, to give children an adventure story that is exciting, fun, thought-provoking and unputdownable.
Of course, it was told to her by a mouse. No ordinary mouse: a curious, well-travelled and always-friendly mouse, who loves nothing more than listening to, and sharing, great stories.
As Dr I.M.A. Littlemouse always says, everyone has a tale to tell...
