About the Author

Swayne O'Pie is a British writer, formerly a socialist, and he's decidedly not a misogynistic, unreconstructed male. In 1989, after 22 years in education, he became a single parent, looking after his three children. During the 1970s he worked enthusiastically for Equality Feminism and still passionately believes in its principles of equal rights, equal opportunities, equal respect, equal treatment and equal choices for women. But, he argues, this is not the Feminism that exists in Britain today. Already holding two bachelor degrees, in 1995/6 O'Pie took a Master's degree in Gender and Social Policy. Studying for a second Master's degree in Gender and Education, he was elected student Equal Opportunities Officer for 2004/5. O'Pie has produced research for Bob Geldof's literary and documentary work on equality for fathers, and for his discussions with ministers. He's been a member of three American Men's Equality Groups, and even though he had been a single parent he became an active member of the campaigning group Fathers 4 Justice.

Review

'An original and important new book - an intriguing expose of feminism.' Norman Dennis, Emeritus Professor of Sociology, Newcastle University 'There can be few people better qualified to critique the state of Feminism in modern-day Britain than Swayne O'Pie. Despite the title, it will resonate with readers in all developed countries. A popular backlash against Feminism is long overdue. This book may be the one that starts the backlash, and I hope it is. It certainly deserves to be.' Mike Buchanan, British writer on gender politics
