Alice Anderson s sculptures are entirely mummified in copper thread, creating glistening landscapes of beautiful and uncanny objects from wheelbarrows and bicycles to skeletons and an entire seven-metre staircase. Through the ritual of wrapping these objects, Anderson explores ideas about memory and the ways in which we seal the past and imagine the future. The book features introductory texts from curator Kate Forde and scientist Israel Rosenfield, whose books include The Invention of Memory (Basic Books) and The Strange, Familiar and Forgotten: An Anatomy of Consciousness (Vintage).
