About the Author

John Campbell Rees was born in the Rhondda in 1967. At the age of twelve, Dyspraxia, which has undoubtably influenced his life, was first diagnosed. Thanks to the support of his family, John has not allowed this to limit him in any way. He has attained a BSc (Hons.) Degree.    
    Unlike many authors, who seem to do all sorts of jobs before settling down to write their first novel, John, who has always loved books and reading, has been a Library Assistant since leaving college in 1988. For twenty three of those years, he worked at the Branch Library in his home town of Treherbert.
     John has always been a fan of Science Fiction, naturally choosing it as the genre he would write in.Other interests include a life-long fascination with Politics. He enjoys travelling and trying new foods and drinks. As a Welshman he loves Rugby Unio n but also follows Rugby League avidly.
     John has always been fascinated by gadgets, the latest being the Parrot AR Drone.

Cadet Nevamar 331/29 is the newest recruit to the Winter Squad. A team of dedicate maintenance workers who spend the Autumn and Winter doing all the jobs in the Canopy to prepare the Tree for a new Season.

Nevamar's home is on the planet Arbouron, an alternative Earth where the inside of trees are worlds within worlds. Perfect sealed environments that are home to millions of intelligent creatures. Nevamar's home is an apple tree growing on a weak spot where two realities touch. Whatever happens to the version of the apple tree on our Earth is mirrored on Arbouron and vice versa.

Nevamar's life changed rapidly with a promotion from the nameless ranks of cloned Sprites. Receiving officer training whilst working with the Winter Squad, Nevamar and the three fellow cadets grow up in a home that is shuttered, silent and are full of danger. Isolated from the rest of the Tree and its population.
