Klaus Hueneke has been going bus, on foot, on ski and ocasionally in a canoe, since he was a child in Germany and a teenager in Orange, NSW. After many moves he finally settled in Canberra. This became an excellent base from which to explore the snow country of the Australian Alps, the south coast of NSW and other parts of Australia.By degrees, the high country became a lifestyle and a living. Numerous oral history interviews, thousands of photos, and impressions from many adventures, provided the raw material from which produced books like Huts of the High Country, Kiandra to Kosciusko, Kosciusko- Where the Ice-Trees Burn and People of the Australian High Country. In 1984 he founded Tabletop Press, to publish and distribute books on the Australian Alps and Canberra.
