The biography of a truly remarkable and many-talented man. Seneca Ray Stoddard was widely acclaimed during his career as a photographer in the same league as Matthew Brady and William H. Jackson. He also earned nearly equal fame as a guidebook-writer and mapmaker and was known to a lesser degree as an outstanding artist, author, inventor, editor and publisher, wide-ranging traveler and lecturer. Includes examples of his photographs from the Adirondacks (hunters, campers, scenics) as well as Native Americans from the Pacific coast, the plains and the southwest and scenes from Maine.
