Gr. 5-8. Koh interviewed 11 people, ranging in age from 14 to 23, who were born in Korea and adopted by Caucasian American parents. A chapter is devoted to each adoptee's answers to the questions. Although each person has a unique story, and some are harrowing, the chapters have a sameness to them, like the answers on a job application. The children tell what, if anything, they remember about their childhood in Korea and the experience of adoption and then discuss their relationships with their families, their experiences with prejudice, their self-esteem, their success in school, and their feelings about their birth parents. The answers reveal so little about them as individuals that in the chapters entitled "Sandy" and "Chris," it is difficult to tell whether the subjects are boys or girls. This book may be reassuring to readers who are intercountry adoptees, but it is unlikely to generate much general interest. Sheilamae O'Hara
