A warm and wonderful collection of true tails, er, tales, about an adopted kitty who wins the heart, home, and all the food, of columnist Roz Young. 260 pages.

YA-- Although somewhat similar to two recent cat books, this will be read and appreciated by feline loving YAs. Edith has wrapped Young around her paw, much as Norton has done to Peter Gethers in The Cat Who Went to Paris ( Crown, 1991 ) , but she has more believable adventures--getting lost, being kidnapped, riding in a parade--events that happen to more average cats. Gethers's work is funnier, but it takes a more sophisticated reader to understand the humor. Young ties in literary references and quotes on cats much as Amory does in The Cat Who Came for Christmas ( Little, 1987 ) , but her style is more informal and includes more dialogue. Teenagers of average ability will have no problems with the easy-to-understand language and style. In fact, the great amount of white space per page, simple sentence structure, and the artwork at the beginning of each chapter make this a likely selection for reluctant readers.
