FROM THE PUBLISHER In 23 years of publishing, we have never experienced anything quite like the exhilarating yet distracting venture of making this writing into a novel. Editors and proofreaders found they could not stay on task until they had read the entire story. The typesetter reports that he entertained frequent pauses, often pushing himself away from his machine until he could stop laughing. Debates about whether to edit sections that may have been too abusive or profane were decided by video taping a reading of the questionable narrative. The readers always collapsed in tearful giggling. No sections were edited. Escape From Dade City is a ribald odyssey of Wally Winters, a writer who advocates female ascendancy and who becomes trapped in an apocalypse of gender reversals--a tale with haunting surprises that shifts abruptly from the curiously erotic to waggish, then slapstick, humor. An unusual and perhaps surreal characteristic of Escape From Dade City is the accuracy of historical, geographical and social settings. An eclipse happened precisely when it happened in the story. Two years ago the Pittsburgh football team beat West Virginia at the time and by the score in the story. The book you see in the images is the actual book we have for sale.
