The Sepoy by Edmund Candler is a comprehensive coverage of some of the greatest Indian Sepoys, who have over the years, given the Indian Army their extensive support and dedication.
First published in 1922, Candler's novel of India's movement toward independence in the waning days of the British Empire preceded E.M. Forster's A Passage to India by two years. Though Forster's is now the more famous of the two, Abdication nevertheless was well regarded at the time. "Of its literary brilliance there can be no doubt," said The Times Literary Supplement .
