Grade 10-12-- A volume apparently intended for the high school audience, but on a sufficiently advanced subject matter that will attract only college and adult students. The bulk of the book explains the basic components of effective study habits. Another section discusses the mind, memory, and mnemonics. A short opener dealing with self-esteem and confidence-building is helpful. The tone is zealous and fervent, resembling the ``paid programming'' pitches found on late night television. Everything here can be readily found in other books, tapes, and videos, some of which are classics in the field of improved academic performance, and which the authors acknowledge and list in the back. Although some readers may find it convenient to have these ideas in one handy volume, the titles in the bibliography provide much more comprehensive discussions of the various strategies so sketchily discussed here. --Lucinda Lockwood, Thomas Haney Secondary School, Maple Ridge, BC
