A. Frank Krause, a Milton native, was born at 233 Center street in 1918. He grew up and attended Milton schools and at the age of 22 upon the death of his father, headed the firm of Krause & Company; a plumbing, heating and mechanical contracting firm who ha in 1940, celebrated its 60th year in business. World War II intervened and Krause found himself int he War Department's Chief's office of the Manhattan District. A newly formed headquartered group of 100 specialists assigned the task of building and producing an Atomic Bomb.
