About the Author

This third edition of the book builds on the success of the earlier editions and was revised and updated to include new tools. It contains new nursing research information about using the peanut ball for women who have chosen epidural analgesia. There is also a completely new chapter about the use of a rebozo in perinatal care. I chose Guadalupe Trueba to author this chapter, as she is a very experienced midwife, doula, and international speaker on perinatal issues, including rebozo use during the childbearing year. This 3rd edition has been completely revised, re-edited, and enlarged- so it really is a NEW book. And did I tell you it has alot of pictures to illustrate the written word?

Paulina Perez has done it again! A revision of an already fabulous book. As a director of a busy obstetrical unit in Southwest Florida, I recommend this book to all of my new nursing staff to assist them with the development of their hands on labor support skills. This books provides the how to skills that nurses are looking for to assist their clients in having a birth that is supportive of the woman's wishes. The skills empower the nurse to assist the woman in being an active participant in her birth. In addition, the book is evidence based and provides up- to- date resources needed for development of policy and procedures for the obstetrical unit. From Aromatherapy, Birth Balls and Communication Skills, to Positioning and Rebozos this book has it all!
