In Texas alone, 55,392 children were victims of either abuse and/or neglect during the 1991 fiscal year; an average of 152 children per day.
103 children died as a result of abuse and/or neglect during the 12 month period. In a six month period, 1,073 child sex abuse victims were actually assessed on, in 1992. Of those children, 870 were female; 203 were male.
More than 90,000 reports were investigated by the Children's Protective Services in Texas, during that time period. Of that, according to the Texas Department of Human Service:

• 5,160 are under the age of one year.
• 11,252 are between the ages of 1 and 3 years.
• 11,238 are between the ages of 4 and 6 years.
• 10,168 are between the ages of 7 and 9 years.
• 17,574 are between the ages of 10 and 17 years.

The statistics have continued to rise. This is the story of one that went UNREPORTED!
