About the Author
Jessica Powers grew up hiking in the desert tagging along behind her geologist father and even two years of hiking some of the most beautiful trails in the world in New York's Adirondack Mountains couldn't keep her from returning. After meeting her husband Chris while both were members of a street theatre troupe in Melbourne, Australia, she looked forward to the day she could show him the desert around El Paso and southern Mexico. An avid rock-climber until she hurt her wrists, Jessica's outdoor adventures involve mostly footwork these days. Jessica is an editor/publicist for Cinco Puntos Press in El Paso, and has written extensively for the El Paso Scene and Suite 101.com. She loves school and has earned master's degrees in history and writing from the University of Texas at El Paso and New Mexico State University.
