Charlie began his career in 1971 as a sales trainee for Coronet Carpets (a division of RCA). He held several sales and management positions before being appointed president in 1980. In 1981, he resigned that position to become president and chief operating officer of Carriage Industries. Under his leadership from 1981 - 1986, Carriage's sales grew from $6 million to $75 million. INC. magazine named the company one of "America's Fastest Growing Businesses."
