Synopsis

Special agent Johnny Zoe had integrity. As a Vietnam tunnel rat and later, as an ATF sniper, he never flinched from an assignment. But the assignments got tougher as his country began to collapse under the mandates of the New World Order. And special agent Zoe had to decide how important integrity really was. This is his story, personal and soul baring. And it is for all Americans to contemplate.

From the Author

When I wrote Red Sky, I knew I needed to do a sequel about the BATF sharpshooter, Johnny Zoe, who appears in the final chapter. After all, how could a government agent shoot an unarmed pacifist holding up a cross, or at another time in history, a woman (Mrs. Weaver) hugging a 10-month old infant? There will always be those working for the government who unwittingly allow themselves to be tools of tyranny, willing slaves swallowing the party line, gun-ho soldiers who would carry out unlawful orders. Without them tyranny could not exist. Johnny Zoe was such a soldier.

Review

Johnny Zoe's story begins at a government siege of a militia compound near Marion, Illinois. As he waits for the impending attack, he reflects on his life as a Vietnam tunnel rat, his work as a CIA cover operative, and a plane crash in an Indoensian jungle resulting in his discovery of an incredible Kerayan valley. Once, he would have returned to that remote civilization to learn from the Dayaks the secrets to blissful existence. But that was long ago and a mere wisp of fantasy now. The trade off is his life, a crazy quilted patchwork of color here or there, but making no sense at all except for one absolute--death. But it is the present he must now deal with and as the New World Order agenda intensifies, and his unlawful orders increase, he must decide what he really believes in and if he is willing to die for those beliefs. A Line In The Sand is an imaginative, tense, suspenseful, exceptionally well written novel that will entertain as it raises the questions that are behind many of today's national headlines. -- Bookwatch, September 1997
