Synopsis
When Frederick Flagg, scion of a wealthy Prussian family, set out on a two-year around-the-world trip as First Mate aboard his uncle's newly acquired sailing bark MIMI. he believed this voyage would be a fitting finis to what until then had been a life filled with youthful adventuring. The MIMI grounded on a remote Pacific beach; Frederick became involved in an ill-fated salvage scheme, fell in love with a beautiful but mysteriously mute Native American woman, and was finally forced to choose between his love and his duty to his class and Emperor.
