This book has become an industry standard for new and experienced engineers who need to learn how to better use any finite element analysis software. The unique blending of FEA theory with hands-on examples helps engineers gain insight into how FEA can help them be more effective. Scores of drawings, charts, graphs, equations, tables and other visual aids help make the theory less "heavy" than other engineering texts. Includes example disk in Algor format. Softcover version is an invaluable reference at a "student-oriented" price.

Professor Constantine Spyrakos is a faculty member at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and the College of Engineering at West Virginia University (WVU) in Morgantown, WV, USA. He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering from NTUA, Greece. He also holds an M.S. in Engineering Mechanics and a Ph.D., with an emphasis on the utilization of FEA methods to solve dynamics problems, from the University of Minnesota.
Prior to joining the faculty at WVU and NTUA, Dr. Spyrakos spent several years in the industry, where he was involved in the finite element analysis and computer-aided design of a wide range of engineering systems. As a researcher, Dr. Spyrakos has headed projects funded by the National Science Foundation, the Federal Highway Administration, NATO and many leading companies.
Dr. Spyrakos is widely considered a leading authority in computational mechanics methods. His credits include more than 100 refereed publications and reports on subjects such as static, dynamic, seismic and thermoelastic vibration problems involving conventional as well as composite materials
