This book is the very first cross-country ski novel ever published. Kickland is a self-published work, because no right-thinking real publisher would touch a story about cross-country skiing...which explains why this one is the first. Got it? Even though Kickland received many outstanding reviews from a wide variety of media, sales thus far have suffered from both lack of distribution and the unfortunate perception that one must be a cross-country ski enthusiast to enjoy the story. Basically, this was one major marketing fiasco.

From the Author:

I wrote this novel in memory of Ketil Ulvang, brother of the Olympic nordic skiing legend Vegard Ulvang of Norway. It was my desire that Kickland be acclaimed as the first novel written in English about the sport. It was probably a mistake to go this route as a first-time author, because cross-country skiing is not very popular in America. In any event, I tried to spice up the novel with a courtroom scene and some corporate and journalistic shenanigans. There is a little PG rated romance going on, too. I've been told that Kickland is a Christian novel, but it wasn't my intent to exclude or impugn the non-religious reader.
