Poetry. Janell Moon's is an absolutely original voice. With wicked humor and a compassionate eye, Janell deftly tackles the conundrums of family, lesbian love, aging. She brings to her writing the raw, risky honesty that only a strong poet can. Roaming from her girlhood in a small Ohio town, to dreams after a friend's suicide, to the tricky balance on a San Francisco hillside, she confronts the fractures of identity and how we make our place in the world --Dorthy Wall. When morning broke, there was a moment/ when light and dark shone in balance/ and if we really focused,/ we could see what was left,/ what was worthy. (The Burning).

"Janell Moon's poetry unwraps the mysteries of the ordinary. It is at once familiar, and full of surprises. She shows us, again and again, that indeed we can get there from here." -- Diane di Prima
"The poetry contained here shows us a poet's desire to honor her creative life in the midst of all that crowds her and as a result we, as readers, find fresh new ways to give sway to our own imaginations. We also learn valuable lessons about the everyday battle to stay true to oneself, past and present, old world and new, and fashion a life which responds to it all." -- Toni Mirosevich, "The Rooms We Make Our Own", 'Firebrand Books'
Janell Moon's is an absolutely original voice...She brings to her writing the raw, risky honesty that only a strong poet can....these poems will leave you wanting more from this fine poet." -- Dorothy Wall, co-author of 'Finding Your Writer's Voice: A Guide to Creative Fiction"
