About the Author
A former lawyer, but mostly an avid outdoorswoman, Kathie Rivers has been traveling in Southern Utah for the past fifteen years. She also wrote the popular Idaho's Scenic Highways, A Mile by Mile Road Guide.

This in-depth guide to southeast Utah, home to the 2002 Winter Olympics, allows travelers to pick out the sites as they drive. Rivers (Idaho's Scenic Highways), who has been exploring Southeast Utah for the past 15 years, unveils the richness of the area, which includes remnants of the ancient Anasazi and Fremont cultures as well as Lake Powell and the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Organized by the highways in the area, the mostly geological sites are listed in geographical order, accompanied by the mileage where they occur. Rivers also covers topics of greater interest, such as Canyonlands, Arches, and Capitol Reef National Parks and includes references to Utah history, flora and fauna, hiking and biking trails, even picnic areas. Interesting stories of local personalities like Butch Cassidy are also included. Although wide in scope, this guide will mostly be of interest to travelers in the area.
