About the Author
Paul M. Pedersen, Ph.D., is the Director of the Sport Management Doctoral Program at Indiana University (IU) in Bloomington, Indiana, USA. He is a Professor of Sport Management at IU. Pedersen - inducted as a North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM) Research Fellow in 2009 - has published seven books and over 75 articles in peer-reviewed journals. He has also been a part of over 100 invited or refereed presentations around the world. In addition to his other authorship activities, Pedersen is the founding editor of the International Journal of Sport Communication. He is also an editorial board member of 10 journals, including positions of founding editorial review board member of Communication & Sport and two other journals. Pedersen has primary scholarly interests in the areas of sport communication and sport management. He has researched, published, and presented on the activities and practices of many sport organization personnel, specifically those associated with the print media (i.e., newspaper editors, reporters) and affiliated with intercollegiate/interscholastic sports (i.e., athletic directors, student-athletes). Pedersen - a Golden Eagle Hall of Fame (East High School - Pueblo, Colorado) inductee - now lives in Bloomington with his wife, Jennifer, and their four children. In addition to enjoying his family at home, Pedersen has appreciated the opportunity to educate and mentor sport management students over the years. In particular, he has considered it a privilege to be a doctoral chair of several Ph.D. graduates (i.e., Dr. Won Youl Bae, Dr. Ryan Brewer, Dr. Galen Clavio, Dr. Coyte Cooper, Dr. Andrea Eagleman, Dr. Sanghak Lee, Dr. Tywan Martin, Dr. Erin McNary, Dr. Chris Reynolds, Dr. Young Ik Suh, and Dr. Antonio Williams, Dr. Cara Wright) and advisees (i.e., Sang Keon Yoo, Juha Yoon). Pedersen also is an advisor to master's students and teaches undergraduate, master's, and doctoral courses in sport communication and sport management at IU.
