About the Author

Adventure has been a way of life for Bob Bitchin since the early sixties, when his name was coined by the comedy team of Cheech and Chong.. He was born in Los Angeles in 1944. Brought up in the San Fernando Valley area he was strongly influenced by the many motorcycle clubs of that time, and rode with many of the clubs during the next twenty years under that name. He worked as a traveling companion and bodyguard for famous motorcycle daredevil Evil Knievel, promoted motorcycle shows, and created Biker Magazine and Tattoo Magazine. He also worked as editor of many of the motorcycle magazines of that era, and wrote for other publications as diverse as Forbes, Penthouse and New Look. During that time he rode his motorcycles across the country over 30 times, and around Europe as well. He was active in the start-up of ABATE, which is one of the largest motorcycle legislative organizations in the world, and was the founding president of the Motorcycle Press Association. For almost thirty years he has lived aboard sailboats and cruised most of the Pacific and Central America since the early seventies In 1988 he sold his magazines and started sailing full time. He bought the staysail ketch Lost Soul in 1990, and he and his wife Jody have been sailing the world ever since. He has three children from a previous marriage, and 6 grand-children. In 1996 he created Latitudes & Attitudes Magazine. In the six years since it s inception it has become one of the largest and most authoritative publications on sailing and world cruising. Bob now divides his time between Publishing his magazine, world cruising, doing seminars on sailing and writing novels. He has written five books. His two most recent books, Letters From The Lost Soul (Sheridan House) and Emerald Bay (FTW Publishing) were released in 2001 and 2002. The Sailing Life was released by Sheridan House in 2005, and King Harbor was released in June of 2007.
