Synopsis

Matt Carrigan, top-notch twenty-year CIA veteran, is fed up with the agency. After escaping from an Iraqi prison where he's been held for the past two years, Matt's determined to quit the agency and try to rekindle a relationship with his old flame, Lisa.

Upon returning to the States, the CIA Director tries to entice Carrigan into one more assignment. The country is experiencing a strange phenomenon whereby older people are suddenly, and unexplainably killing their loved ones.
Carrigan's inability to walk away from a situation, and his inherent need to know, overcome his desire to quit, at least until he finds out what's going on. He agrees to take the case and will leave the agency when the situation is solved so that he and Lisa can start a life together; the one they never had a chance to have.

Lisa tags along as the crisis worsens and becomes worldwide. It's clear that something serious is taking place and that they must find the person or persons responsible for it, soon. People are committing random acts of murder and banding together in roving groups, killing without any apparent provocation or reason. The situation is now so dangerous that the only safe place for the President of the United States is a military stronghold in Utah while Carrigan, the Deputy CIA Director and Professor Griffith, the top notch Government scientist, are left at the Pentagon to try and unravel this devastating condition.

The Director's reserve and determination, coupled with Professor Griffith's technological genius and Carrigan's ability to control his mind against all forms of mental control, appears to be sufficient to overcome, and destroy this aberration but their combined efforts are no match for this all powerful super mind.

The world's situation can now best be described as bleak as, little by little, all hope begins to fade.
