There is no one with more first hand knowledge of the London tea scene than Jane Pettigrew. She became involved in the world of tea after opening her teashop in southwest London in 1983. Since then she has written a dozen books on tea and one on coffee, including The New Tea Companion. She served as editor of Tea International and the tea editor for Tea and Coffee International. She speaks regularly around the world at professional tea conferences and has consulted with many of the fine hotels of London for their afternoon tea service. Bruce Richardson is the author of six books on tea including The Great Tea Rooms of America and Looking Deeply into Tea. He travels to London annually to update his Great Tea Rooms of Britain book. He is a frequent speaker at tea events across America and a regular columnist for Fresh Cup and TeaTime magazines. He has been a tea importer and blender for many years and is the owner of Elmwood Inn Fine Teas. He serves as producer, co-writer and photographer for the Tea in the City travel guides.
This unique guide is a treat for both local tea lovers and international visitors who will now be able to explore the wide range of tea experiences on offer in London today. This well-researched, beautifully photographed book delivers hours of pleasure exploring, sipping, and shopping for the cup that cheers. And those who do not have the opportunity to actually visit can savor a hint of London's most important contemporary tea shops, tea rooms and tea lounges through the descriptions and colorful images. A number of the tea venues listed in this volume are also members of the Tea Council's prestigious Tea Guild - an association of British tea places that has worked with vigor and dedication to raise standards and to increase awareness of quality tea over the past 15 years. --Bill Gorman, Executive Director, UK Tea Council
Leaf tea is surprisingly hard to find and Tea in the City: London is a most welcome guide to the true brews. --Hattie Ellis, author of Tea: Discovering, Exploring, Enjoying
