Eric is far from home on a camping trip to Isle Royale National Park with his family. He hopes to meet new animals, but he does not want to meet a wolf. The sky fairy has other plans and sends a wolf, Canis Lupis, to find Eric. Through the visit, Eric learns that wolves are not "big and bad," but are an important part of a balanced ecology. When Eric sees the fish his father has caught, he realizes that, in some ways, people are predators, too.
