About the Author

Mary Newman is a researcher at Krannert Institute of Cardiology, Indiana University School of Medicine and a consultant for Catalyst Research & Communications, Inc. Originally from Glen Rock, New Jersey, Newman is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati with 20 years experience in emergency medical services. A mother of four, she lives in Carmel, Indiana.Jim Christenson, MD, is a researcher at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia. He has served as Chairman of the Emergency Cardiac Care Committee of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of British Columbia and Yukon and is past Chairman of the ECC Committee for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. He also served as the inaugaural Chairman of the Canadian Coalition of Emergency Cardiac Care. He lives in Vancouver with his wife and two children.Newman and Christenson, both members of the Board of Directors of the international Citizen CPR Foundation, are active public health advocates in their respective countries.
