Introduction
This is a book about ceremonies. It is designed to help give words to people who are conducting any kind of ceremony or rite of passage. It is written primarily for ministers, officiants and celebrants. A minister is someone who has been licensed by a church. An officiant or celebrant is someone who performs (officiates) at ceremonies. A minister who performs services is an officiant, celebrants and reverend, but an officiant or celebrant is not necessarily a minister. The latter could be a Judge, Rabbi, Justice of the Peace or Civil Celebrant.
The book is divided into several sections: Baby Naming and Dedication Ceremonies, Weddings, Funerals, Baptisms and Miscellaneous Ceremonies. There is also a Frequently Asked Questions section that may help you feel more confident about performing your ceremonies.
Within all but the miscellaneous section, the ceremonies themselves have been divided into parts. This enables you to pick and choose the parts that are most appropriate for each individual ceremony. This format enables you, the officiant, to customize the ceremonies, adding specific wording appropriate to your belief system. It also serves to keep the ceremonies fresh and interesting.
The ceremonies from this book are available on disc as well, so you don t have to re-type every part that you like.To use this book, read through the section for the type of ceremony you want to do, pick the parts from the sections you like and that seem most appropriate, and insert the names of the participants. I suggest, when doing multiple ceremonies, that you use a sticky note for writing the couple s names on. The note can be easily removed, which cuts down dramatically on copying costs for you.
You may also want to print the parts you like onto full-sized paper with larger print to make reading it in public easier. I would suggest putting the pages in plastic page-holders in an attractive binder.
It s that simple.
