"People ask the whereabouts of Heaven... I say it's 14 miles from exit 10 on interstate 89 in Vermont." Follow along Vermont's Mad River to one of the most beautiful and historical Inns in America, The Inn at the Round Barn Farm. Extravagantly eccentric, original and beautiful, the Inn has brought together two friends who share a passion for life, and more importantly, food!
Of a distinctively Vermont sensibility, Recipes & Reflections is filled with touching and humorous stories, beautiful pictures, and the long-awaited collection of requested recipes from Cooking From the Heart.
This is the long awaited collection of cherished recipes from The Inn at the Round Barn Farm and Cooking From the Heart Catering. The pages of Recipes & Reflections take you away to one of Vermont's most well known inns. Through each chapter, relive the experience a Round Barn guest has while staying at one of New England's most elegant Bed & Breakfasts.
The cookies in Chapter One fill the Inn with a "freshly baked" aroma as friendly Innkeepers welcome you to Vermont's treasured Mad River Valley. Afternoon hors d'oeuvres welcome guests from their journey as Chapter Two shared some of Annie Reed Rhoades' famous savory cheesecake recipes. All the secrets of the morning meal and many years of innkeeping anecdotes enliven Chapter Four through Annie Marie DeFreest's stories of memorable mornings. This is more than just an easy-to-cook-from, professionally written cookbook. Recipes & Reflections shares Annie's cooking secrets that guests of weddings held in the Joslyn Round Barn have been requesting for years. But what really makes this book special is the incredible storybook tucked between this cover: a story of true friendship between two very different women completes this book as honesty, sincerity and love flow through the everyday celebration that these best friends experience.
The Inn at the Round Barn Farm has welcomed familiar longtime guests over the years, won over those who've come to the Inn for their first time, and dazzled guests attending elegant country weddings at this historic Waitsfield landmark. For all of those and for those who have only dreamed of a weekend at a picture-perfect Bed & Breakfast, Recipes & Reflections, A Journey of Food and Friendship From the Inn at the Round Barn Farm, will carry you away to the Inn that lives in your imagination.
