She was the valedictorian of her graduating class. In 1979, she graduated from California State University, Stanislaus with a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Studies. She graduated from the University of California, Hastings College Of The Law in 1982 and began practicing family law in Modesto, Cal. Eddy took the examination for certification as a family law specialist in 1986.
